Our life is connected with communications from the very birth. Communication is not only verbal (words), but also non-verbal (gestures, facial expressions, other movements). For successful communication, you need to use everything together and be able to recognize it in the interlocutor.

Development of social communication

In the first year of life: The child takes an interest in the mother, her face and voice. Then he begins to "speak" without words, imitating sounds. Then he begins to copy her movements. In the second year of life: children communicate with gestures, they shake their heads, wave their hands and indicate what, but what should be paid attention to. At the end of the second year, they communicate mostly in words.

In preschool age: vocabulary increases and sentences become longer. They begin to talk not only about what is now, but also about the past and the future. They connect the speech logically with the interlocutor [1].

Communication problems that may arise:

1) A person takes everything literally and does not understand sarcasm and humor.

2) Difficulty interacting with others, keeping up a conversation.

3) Making friends hard.

4) Stands too close to the interlocutor and does not take into account his personal space.

5) Tells stories in a disorganized manner.

6) Cannot look at the interlocutor or looks too intense.

7) Does not listen, interrupts and says his own.

8) Does not ask again when does not understand.

9) Cannot recognize tone of voice [2].

Social communication functions:

1) The development of relationships between people.

2) Transfer of information.

3) Directs a person to a specific action or reaction.

4) Transmission of evaluation information [3].

Types of communication skills:

Dominant type - after 5 minutes of conversation, it is felt that his is too much.

Mobile type - can easily join any conversation and lose interest in it. Speaks quickly.

The strict type is hard with new people, he cannot easily enter into a conversation, but when he overcomes the barrier, he will become a good interlocutor.

The entered type is silent, does not enter into a conversation.

How to improve your communication skills:

Try engaging in light conversation with a neighbor, coworker, or even a stranger. In each conversation, look for your advantages and useful information for yourself that you learned from the conversation. Psychologists recommend conducting individual or group methods of improving communication. Train your speech in front of the mirror, read the text. Or attend a group training session. This way you will make new acquaintances, have a great time and work through many interesting life situations.
